Rate: £94 to £126 per hour via umbrella

The Senior Project Manager role is based within our Mission Systems business area. We are a trusted provider of integrated solutions for global defence and security, with a portfolio including intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance solutions, communications, and weapons launch and handling solutions across all domains.

The Role

Mission Systems is transforming, and we need your support to drive growth by leading our teams through exciting and challenging situations. As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee and deliver complex projects across engineering contracts, managing project staff to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products and services to our customers.

You will play a key role in expanding our contracts and strengthening customer relationships, implementing our strategic plans. This role offers high responsibility and the chance to work on significant UK Defence and Security contracts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing overall operational and strategic management of assigned projects within your team.
  2. Managing complex engineering projects, ensuring understanding of cost, time, and quality requirements.
  3. Supporting requirement capture, scoping, technical and commercial solutions, and proposal development.
  4. Managing risks to minimize business exposure.
  5. Applying effective change management to adapt to customer needs while maintaining commercial integrity.
  6. Defining acceptance criteria and producing handover documentation for project milestones and technical handovers.
  7. Reviewing lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  8. Presenting management information, including financial reviews and project board updates.
  9. Ensuring high standards within the project team and keeping stakeholders informed.
  10. Adhering to project management methodologies and best practices.

Person Specification

Applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but the following qualifications and experience are beneficial:

  1. APM PMQ, Chartered status, or equivalent (advantageous).
  2. Extensive experience in advanced project management techniques in technical environments.
  3. Experience leading and motivating project teams.
  4. Managing projects with varying demands and deadlines.
  5. Strong financial management skills.
  6. Experience coordinating internal teams and external supply chains.
  7. Line management and leadership experience in a matrix environment.
  8. Experience in the Defence and Security sector is highly desirable.
  9. Commercial awareness and contract management skills.
  10. Experience working with senior managers internally and externally.
