Job summary

Omexom UK is seeking a project delivery lead for the Fort Augustus initiative within the Major Projects ASTI Fort Augustus unit. The role focuses on safe, efficient delivery, high standards of safety and quality, and cost control across hybrid site work with accommodation provided.

The post reports to the Project Director and requires leadership of a project team, Reacting to client needs, and delivering KPI targets including safety audits, margins, and cash flow.

Qualifications

  • Ideally professionally qualified Electrical Engineer with HV experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of NEC Contract.
  • Experience managing budgets and schedules in contracting environments.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate industrial staff.
  • Experience of building HV substations and infrastructure at 275/400Kv.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clear direction and support ensuring optimum utilisation of resources.
  • Lead project team and mentor staff to achieve delivery goals.
  • Update and maintain the P6 Programme with the Project Planner.
  • Deliver works safely and to high quality within budget and time.
  • Manage monthly cost reports and liaise with Commercial/Finance.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and effective communications.

Job description

Business Unit: Major Projects ASTI Fort Augustus

Purpose of the Position:

This role will have responsibility in totality for the delivery of the Fort Augustus project within the business unit. This role focuses on the safe, efficient delivery of work to the highest possibly standards, and exceptional delivery of projects to the highest standards of safety and quality within budget and time constraints. The ideal person for this role will be able to maximise productivity and control costs at all times, while maintaining effective communication with all customers to develop a relationship of trust.

Collaboration is key to this role and maintaining a good client relationship to build upon the existing relationship

The post will entail hybrid working with the understanding that site visits will be required as deemed necessary. Accommodation will be provided.

This position will report directly to the Project Director.

Responsibilities & Duties

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Providing clear direction and support ensuring optimum utilisation of all available resources through improved work programming and scheduling.
  • Lead a project team providing support and mentoring to achieve successful project delivery
  • Update and maintain the P6 Program in conjunction with Project Planer
  • Commitment to continuous improvement through innovation and identification of best practises
  • Delivering works in line with best-in-class safety and quality.
  • Ensuring pre-calculated tendered margins are consistently delivered.
  • Support the Commercial Team submitting change management.
  • Managing and motivating employees and sub-contractors. Including the management of poor performance through defined procedures.
  • Managing cost budgets associated with the works location.
  • Liaise with Commercial Team on preparation of monthly cost reports
  • Preparing outputs for periodic review with Customers as directed by them.
  • Maximising productivity, the right sizing of work teams and the planning and execution of works.
  • Dealing, in an appropriate manner, with all human resources related issues including disciplinary issues – at a site level.
  • Delivering financial and other progress data for the preparation of financial and other reports as directed by the Finance Department.
  • Where necessary dealing courteously and professionally with Customers
  • Delivering KPIs to include:
  • Number of safety audits undertaken
  • Product profit margins
  • Operating costs
  • Cash flow

Person Specification
Qualifications and experience
  • Ideally professionally qualified Electrical Engineer with HV experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of NEC Contract
  • A proven managerial track record with the ability to execute critical tasks in real time.
  • Experience of the management of budgets.
  • The ability to plan works in the most efficient manner.
  • The ability to manage and motivate industrial staff.
  • The ability to put the customer at the centre of decision making.
  • An ability to deliver strong financial performance in a contracting environment.
  • A proven understanding of quality and safety and how to manage them.
  • Experience of meeting targets in a commercial environment.
  • The ability to engage at a specific and detailed level with key tasks, evidenced by those tasks being executed in a highly efficient manner.
  • Personal integrity, resilience and the robustness needed to operate in a fast-changing contracting environment.
  • SSE experience preferable
  • Experience of building HV substations and infrastructure at 275/400Kv
