SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Delivery Team is hiring a Senior Project Manager to deliver complex, large capital projects within the Shetland AC portfolio. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team and external partners to ensure safe, on-time delivery within the business case.

The role reports to a Lead Project Manager and offers opportunities for progression as the portfolio grows in Scotland’s Net Zero ambitions.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering complex capital projects on time and to budget in utilities/regulatory sectors.
• Engineering, construction or project management degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong commercial skills with NEC/FIDIC contracts, cost forecasting and integrated programmes.
• Excellent communication and governance knowledge for large project execution.

Base Location

For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office – Lerwick, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary

£58,100 - £87,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

SSEN Transmission’s Offshore Delivery Team is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager to deliver projects within the Shetland AC portfolio that shall directly facilitate Scotland's ambitions to meet Net Zero. Reporting to a Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary project team and framework supply chain partners to ensure projects are delivered safely and in line with the business case.

The scale of our portfolio of projects is already large and is likely to grow in the coming years, meaning there will likely be opportunities for progression within the business.

You will

• Be accountable to the business for the safety, health, and wellbeing of all personnel, and for environmental aspects of those projects being managed.
• Manage project teams and contract partners providing regular leadership on site. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory, and internal processes and governance.
• Have Commercial responsibilities, including contract negotiation and management as well as budgetary responsibilities.
• Provide guidance and demonstrate our core values. Manage teams, ensuring these are highly capable, well-motivated and organised to deliver consistent excellence.
• Identify business process improvements and support colleagues and the business to develop and implement these.

To be considered for the Senior Project Manager position we are looking for an experienced Manager with demonstrable experience in managing technically complex large capital projects.

You have

• A proven track record of leading and safely delivering projects or programmes of work through the whole lifecycle to cost, schedule and quality in the Transmission, Construction, Energy, or other regulated industry / the wider utilities sector.
• An engineering, construction, or project management qualification/degree or equivalent experience.
• Commercially astute, with sound knowledge and experience of negotiating, administering, and managing Contracts (NEC/FIDIC), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as developing and managing integrated project programmes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and a strong understanding of project management systems and governance for the execution of large projects - including the ability to decipher industry legislation, health and safety legislation and company policies and procedures.
