Job summary

Atlas NextWave are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transmission and grid infrastructure packages in UK energy projects. You will coordinate design, manufacturing, testing, installation and commissioning across complex schemes, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

The role reports to the Project Management team and offers a 12-month contract with outside IR35 and hybrid working (3 days on site, 2 days remote).

Qualifications

Strong experience delivering HV transmission projects across primary and secondary systems.
Experience managing engineering packages safely, on time, and within budget.
Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of high-voltage transmission equipment work packages.
Coordinate design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
Manage project schedules, costs, risks, and resource requirements.
Oversee subcontractors and supplier interfaces.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.
Support project reporting, stakeholder engagement, and package governance.
Drive successful project delivery from concept through to completion.

Atlas NextWave are supporting a leading organisation within the UK energy sector to appoint a Senior Project Engineer to support the delivery of major transmission and grid connection projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure schemes that are helping to strengthen and modernise the UK's electricity network.

The Role

Reporting into the Project Management team, you will be responsible for managing transmission equipment work packages, ensuring safe delivery to programme, budget, and quality requirements. You will coordinate engineering, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning activities across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of high-voltage transmission equipment work packages.

Manage project schedules, costs, risks, and resource requirements.

Experience Required

Previous involvement in National Grid, utility, renewable energy, or transmission infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering,
Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
