The department HVDC Engineering Plant Electrical Design manages the delivery of auxiliary power systems for HVDC stations. Design of this system is complex and involves coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification, cable and cable transit systems. Equipment managed includes auxiliary transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, batteries, UPS, and cables.

This role is a hybrid working position based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with some international travel required for meetings, site supervision, and coordination.

Please note we are unable to provide visa support for this position.

How you’ll make an impact
  • You will be part of a global engineering team responsible for auxiliary power equipment delivery, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality outputs.
  • You will coordinate your team’s tasks, and manage contacts with other departments, clients, and suppliers.
  • You will be accountable for designing auxiliary power systems, reviewing supplier drawings, overseeing installation and commissioning, and ensuring compliance with grid and customer requirements.
Your background
  • Several years of technical and leadership experience, including planning, delegation, and follow-up.
  • Experience in auxiliary power, selectivity studies, or low voltage equipment installation/commissioning.
  • Good knowledge of Grid Code, National Grid, SSE requirements.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience working in international teams or companies.
