Are you a Senior Project Engineer looking for the opportunity to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the oil and gas, and petrochemical industries? We are exclusively recruiting for a permanent Senior Project Engineer on behalf of Whessoe Engineering Ltd, a world-renowned leader in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, with over 200 years of industry excellence, based in Darlington.

The role drive engineering excellence across multi-disciplinary projects

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering teams, overseeing technical project delivery, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and contractual commitments. You will work across disciplines to deliver complex engineering solutions, tracking project performance, budgets, and risks to ensure successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering resources, guiding project teams to deliver technical drawings, designs, and solutions in line with project specifications
  • Track project performance, budgets, and timelines, implementing risk-minimisation strategies
  • Lead the resolution of multi-disciplinary technical challenges, ensuring compliance with contractual commitments
  • Manage client interfaces and oversee subcontractor scopes, including cost control
  • Prepare key project documentation, including execution plans and quality reports, maintaining alignment with company standards
  • Provide technical support and ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality procedures across engineering activities
  • Handle project communication, ensuring clear channels of information flow and accurate record-keeping

What we re looking for:

  • Degree/HND in an engineering discipline
  • Significant career experience, with extensive time spent as a Project Engineer in an engineering design or contracting environment
  • Strong understanding of international codes and standards within the oil and gas and petrochemical industries
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills, with a strong focus on commercial and risk awareness
