Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a passionate Senior Civil Engineer to help shape the future of water and wastewater treatment in the Thames Valley and the Home Counties. This role offers an opportunity to be part of AMP8 initiatives: modernising Treatment Works, delivering essential services, and protecting the environment for future generations.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Project Engineer
  • Oversee the design development of water/wastewater network projects from concept to contract award.
  • Identify, analyse, and mitigate project risks, enabling scope definition and robust contractor pricing.
  • Ensure contractors undertake detailed design and implement necessary changes during construction.
  • Support project teams during commissioning and asset handover.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure safe, robust solutions meeting operational requirements.
  • Act as the key contact for CDM Designer or Principal Designer roles during initial design stages.

Hybrid role based at Clearwater Court, requiring on-site presence 2-3 days a week, with a 36-hour workweek, Monday to Friday. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car; applications are welcome from those without a vehicle.

What you should bring to the role
  • HNC/degree or master’s in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Understanding of project delivery principles in process industries.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety in Construction.
  • Understanding of industrial process decisions within engineering disciplines.
