Role

To be a proactive and effective team member to maximise productivity, quality, and effectiveness.

Ownership and accountability for delivery of budget / unit cost and output volumes as agreed with the Asset owner for works associated with Refurbishment, Investment, and Maintenance activities.

Management of team involved in particular delivery elements of the OHL I&M programmes.

Leading and coaching assigned staff to accept responsibilities and accountabilities associated with delivery requirements from a cost and unit perspective.

Management of all aspects of transmission operations, including project management, operational safety, maintenance, and quality assurance.

Continuously strive to gain knowledge and experience in all areas of business procedures and system operation.

Liaison with contractors and other businesses to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of energy to our customers.

Effective delivery of agreed outputs for Transmission Circuits refurbishment programmes.

Effective management and delivery of network faults as they arise.

Develop close liaison and interface with Transmission Field Operations, OCC & Network Planning.

Proactively manage workload priorities of self and team regarding network risks in association with Asset Manager.

Pro-actively manage network refurbishment programmes to ensure continued safe and reliable operation of the Transmission Network, balanced with commercial awareness.

Ensure that all Transmission Circuits projects are managed in accordance with CDM compliance and that effective project management standards are implemented at all levels.

What you'll be doing

  • Comply with Company Health and Safety requirements to deliver a zero accident culture and promote good safety behaviours.
  • Comply with Company Environmental requirements to deliver a sustainable future on the path to Net Zero.
  • Effective financial management leading to delivery of required units within agreed budget targets, forecasts, and timescales.
  • Effective contract management and adherence to financial and contract governance processes.
  • Delivery of business improvement initiatives.
  • Construct programmes of work associated with engineering and delivery requirements.
  • Project management and financial control of capital projects.
  • Management of tender process, including all activities in the preparation and review of tenders through to award.
  • Responsible for delivery and management of OHL I&M Policy requirements including: Airborne Condition Assessments, OHL Condition Based Assessments (CBA), OHL Thermal Inspections, OHL Conductor Testing and Sampling, Tower Foundation Inspections.

Financial Management within corporate system (SAP) for areas of responsibility.

Management of OHL Asset Data and master OHL maintenance and inspection records.

Compiling Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) for OHL activities.

Lead in the management of interfaces with external partners and contractors to deliver value in an efficient and a cost-effective manner.

Respond appropriately to Customer Complaints, taking ownership and resolving as appropriate.

Liaison of operational support for planned work ensuring correct resources are in place along with appropriate Method Statements and Risk Assessments.

Effective Project Planning to ensure efficient delivery of Programmes.

Safety & Quality control of all associated activities including auditing.

Ensure accurate records are maintained for all project works and that company records are updated on completion.

Provide monthly updates (Scorecard Reporting) on Project Delivery including weekly and monthly reporting and regulatory reporting.

Comply with OFGEM and internal levels of service.

Participate in training/development activities and review effectiveness.

Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of your operation.

Focus on continuous improvement through quality processes.

Liaise with Lead engineer on programme related matters.

Manage the development of assigned staff and trainees through performance management frameworks and on-job coaching & mentoring.

What you'll bring

Contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness.

Developed negotiation, communication, and people management skills.

Sound Financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.

Advanced complex project and programme management.

Knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures, and working practices.

Knowledge of health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.

Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems and processes.

Working knowledge of SAP/NAMS processes.

Minimum Criteria

  • HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Business Management.
  • Computer literacy - e.g., Microsoft Office suite and SAP.
  • Experience in a relevant engineering or management role within a utility business.
  • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Effective stakeholder management.
  • Experience of working on regulatory activities.
  • Full Valid UK Driving License.
