We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.
About this role
As the Senior Project Engineer you will be accountable for undertaking complex engineering program development, planning and designs associated with Western Power or third-party facilities connected to the Distribution Network.
To assist in relevant project selection, conduct engineering investigations and to lead process improvements where required. You will also be required to:

Scheduling
- Schedule or plan own daily and weekly allocated work to meet targets
- Provide support to project management plans
- Support the work of team members.
- Provide technical support across other work groups
Technical
- Undertaking complex engineering program development, planning and designs associated with Western Power or third-party facilities connected to the Distribution Network
- Identify, analyse, and develop opportunities for performance improvement
- Document improvements and variations to procedures, programmes, and processes
- Assist Western Power’s participation in the selection process for assigned projects.
- Manage the external consultants during project design stage to ensure compliance with drafting standards, technical, legal, regulatory, and best practice requirements.
- Manage the technical queries register during the design stage.
- Produce material list for each project and provide technical support during the construction stage.
- Perform data extraction for projects in applicable computer systems.
- Respond to key stakeholders (such as Government Departments and Local Government Authorities etc) and customers, on design/project issues for relevant projects.
- Providing technical support and guidance to team members in the form of specialist advice on all aspects of the integration of distribution assets into the network.
- Developing and maintaining technical Scope of Work (SoW) for outsourced design contracts.
- Assist project team members maintain the technical quires register during construction.
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Must possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Eligible for corporate membership of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
- At least 8 to 10 years’ extensive experience in an engineering discipline, preferably within a utility engineering company.
- A sound knowledge of distribution standards, policies and procedures is required. This might include the following depending on requirements.
- Power system primary plant and secondary plant/systems.
- Complex engineering program development, planning, and designs
- Sound understanding of the interactions of related disciplines impacting on distribution design, including civil/structural issues and environmental issues.
- Sound understanding of distribution construction practices and processes.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to engage with external consultant and stakeholders
