Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of steel design and Eurocodes (especially EN 1993).

• Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures.
• Design of specialist equipment for heavy lifting and movement projects.
• Preparation of detailed calculations and engineering drawings.

Impact Recruitment are currently working with a market leading business within the specialist construction sector. We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team on a permanent basis.

Our client is a team of highly skilled engineers who design, develop, manufacture, and operate complex equipment used in large-scale construction projects across the globe. They deliver complete engineering solutions, including temporary works, heavy lifting systems, and bespoke structural designs for bridges, offshore structures, power stations and industrial plants.

Salary: Up to 45,000 per annum + 7,480 annual car allowance
Location: Darlington
Hours: Monday - Thursday: 7.45am - 4.150pm Friday: 7.45am - 12.45pm
Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities:

• Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures (mainly in steel)
• Design of specialist equipment for heavy lifting and movement projects
• Structural analysis using FEA software (STAAD.Pro, LUSAS)
• Preparation of detailed calculations and engineering drawings
• Producing sketches using AutoCAD or by hand
• Working as part of a collaborative engineering and CAD design team
• Liaising with project managers and internal departments
• Site visits to support lifting and installation operations as required
• Using Excel and other Microsoft tools to support design processes

Required Experience:

• Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership (MICE, MIStructE or MIMechE)
• Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in structural or mechanical engineering
• Strong knowledge of steel design and Eurocodes (especially EN 1993)
• Proficient with AutoCAD and FEA software
• Good IT skills including Excel, Word, and email systems
• Excellent communication and teamworking skills
• Relevant on-site experience

Desirable:

• Experience in temporary works and/or heavy lifting and moving projects
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and equipment
• CSCS card
