About us:

The Senior Programme Officer provides essential support to academics and professional services colleagues. They will work closely with the Programme Manager and Programme Officers and wider programme administration team, to ensure consistent management and delivery of assessments administration.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as Senior Programme Officer in IoPPN’s Education Support Team. The Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) Programme Support Team are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and confident administrator, who is committed to providing an excellent provision that supports the programme administration lifecycle.

The role will support the new BSc Psychology & Criminology programme which launches this September, alongside overseeing key activity in the student lifecycle across MHaPS programmes. This role has supervisory responsibility, providing expertise, advice and support for the queries of the 6 Programme Officers in the team.

The Senior Programme Officer will interact with a wide range of academic and professional services staff from across the Faculty and the University whilst ensuring that our stakeholders benefit from our services in a seamless and effective manner. Striving to constantly improve the student and staff experience and positively collaborate to enact change and proactively deliver new initiatives and systems, this role is expected to work at a more senior operational level, contributing to the development of processes and procedures.

With a keen working knowledge of existing regulations and policies, the Senior Programme Officer is a valued and trusted member of the team, demonstrating confident and proactive attention to detail. Applicants must have excellent IT skills, particularly adept in Microsoft Excel, and some experience of utilising data in student record systems and virtual learning environments is necessary to succeed in the role. The role holder will be expected to support a flexible, varied, and high-pace workload, often across competing priorities in line with core university deadlines and requirements.

This is a part-time post 0.6 FTE (21 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. We offer hybrid working with minimum one day in the office split between Guy’s and Waterloo campus, and the rest working from home.

As this position is part-time, the salary listed will be amended accordingly (pro rata).

About you:

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence autonomously to a broad range of audiences
  2. Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse complex numerical data to drive decision making
  3. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to plan effectively across a range of competing priorities, and work to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  4. Experience of stakeholder management, with the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders and knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner
  5. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages, especially Excel, and experience in the use of student records systems (such as SITS, Power BI) and virtual learning environments (ideally Moodle)
  6. Have a methodical but flexible approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracyand excellent attention to detail
  7. Proactive, collaborative, and relationship-oriented approach to teamwork
  8. Ability to form professional networks and contribute positively to supporting change

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience of working in a Higher Education setting

£38,482 to £43,249 per annum pro rata, including London Weighting Allowance
