This Project Management role is accountable for the day-to-day management and delivery of technical development and/or production projects, ensuring the timely delivery of equipment versions/variants to agreed programme timescales.

Working within an applied matrix organisation (in collaboration with engineering, procurement, supply-chain, and production departments), the role will foster and encourage the culture and operational effectiveness of Integrated Project Teams (IPTs).

As part of the Bids and Programmes job family, you will support an integrated – whole Marshall – Life Cycle Management Processes (LCM) and Business Management System (BMS), bringing your experience to support the wider team.

  • Accountability for all project requirements (technical, commercial, project management, delivery, etc., both internal & external), ensuring they are clearly understood from the outset and documented appropriately.
  • Ownership of engineering development phases, including Phase Reviews, Design Reviews, and Gate Reviews, ensuring:
  • Customer requirements are interpreted and confirmed as “Compliant”, or addressed when “Partially Compliant” or “Non-Compliant”.
  • All consequential standards are fully assessed.
  • Design solutions meet Business Line’s “Design for Procurement” and “Design for Production/Manufacture” requirements.
  • Design Gate Reviews of SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, and any B-Model FQT trials are completed.

Leading assigned IPTs, managing costs, schedules, and technical issues, working with procurement and supply chain colleagues, managing subcontracts, and ensuring delivery aligns with project and programme needs.

Ownership of project budgets, including BAC, EAC, ETCs, and cost variance analysis, with monthly reporting on SPI, CPI, EVM, and CPA data.

Managing project risks, change management, and supporting lifecycle management processes. Deputising for the lead Programme Manager/Director as needed.

Supporting resource coordination, lessons learned activities, and programme governance.

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Proven experience in front-line programme management roles in the defence domain, including delivery roles in Bids, Projects, or Programmes.
  • Deep knowledge of engineering development techniques, project planning, control, risk management, and multiple execution methodologies.
  • Experience in post-delivery support and in-service product modifications.
  • Experience leading multi-functional teams in a collaborative matrix environment.
  • Experience with procurement, supply chain, and full product lifecycle of complex systems.
  • Ability to interpret reports from scheduling tools and knowledge of EVM, SPI, CPI, SRA, CPA.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and practical risk management skills.
  • Team building, decision-making, conflict management, and mentoring experience.
  • Desirable: APM PMQ or PMI PMP, and systems engineering competence.

Based in the UK, Marshall also operates in Canada, specialising in deployable operational infrastructure and mission support for humanitarian, defence, and security operations worldwide.
