The role...

We are recruiting for a Senior Production Technician in Stage at His Majesty's Theatre, to facilitate the smooth and safe running of The Phantom of the Opera.

In this role, you will support the Head of Stage Engineering in the delivery of rehearsals and performances of The Phantom of the Opera, as well as maintaining the show and the technical theatre infrastructure.

You will carry out stage plots and supervise the stage crew.

Alongside the team, you will help create a high-performance culture aligned with our vision: to stage the extraordinary.

What you’ll be doing…
  • Assist with the maintenance of set pieces, led by the Head of Department (HoD).
  • Maintain flying pieces and the counterweight system, led by the HoD.
  • Operate the fly floor during shows.
  • Maintain high standards within the stage crew.
  • Motivate the stage team.
  • Undertake work assigned by department heads.
  • Allocate show plots to the stage team.
  • Lead weekly maintenance sessions with the stage crew.
  • Participate in technical rehearsals as required.
  • Collaborate with visiting company and Stage Management for smooth show operation.
  • Ensure a safe and professional work environment for performers, technicians, and audiences.
  • Handle problems during live performances.
  • Manual handling training will be provided.

  • Understanding of theatre health and safety is a plus.
  • Willing to work overtime, evenings, weekends, including Sundays.

Salary: £ + overtime, increasing with SOLT/BECTU agreements.

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week over 6 days.
