Job summary

DS Smith operates a packaging site in Redditch and is seeking an experienced Production Operative. You will operate and monitor production machinery, optimise performance, perform set-ups and basic fault-finding, and contribute to safety, quality and continuous improvement across multiple assets.

The role is on-site with 40 hours per week on rotating shifts, starting salary £33,372 rising to £35,202 with training and progression.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Good understanding of factory health and safety practices.
• Experience meeting production targets and quality standards.
• Able to identify issues, troubleshoot problems and act accordingly.
• Positive, proactive attitude and desire to learn new machines.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maximise machine performance, minimise downtime and waste.
• Carry out machine set-up, changeovers, adjustments and basic fault-finding.
• Work across multiple assets and develop multi-skilled capability.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspection and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure products meet customer quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement to safety, quality and productivity.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet production targets and record keeping.
