Job summary

DS Smith in Redditch is seeking an experienced Production Operative to join our packaging site. This role requires proven experience operating machinery in fast-paced manufacturing, with a focus on safety and quality. You’ll monitor equipment, setup/changeovers, and contribute to continuous improvement while meeting production targets.

Hours are rotating, 40 hours per week, on site. Salary starts at £33,372 with progression up to £35,202, depending on training and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Strong health and safety awareness in a factory environment.
• Experience meeting production targets and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maximise machine performance while minimising downtime and waste.
• Carry out machine set-up, changeovers, adjustments, and basic fault-finding.
• Work across multiple production assets and develop multi-skilled capability.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspection and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure products consistently meet customer quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality and productivity.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet production targets and business objectives.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
