Job summary

Our client, a heavy engineering manufacturer in the St Helens area, seeks a senior Production Manager to lead and transform the fabrication operation. You will be responsible for safety, quality, delivery and cost, owning the production plan and capacity to achieve on-time delivery in full.

The role requires a hands-on leader with strong planning, commercial awareness and experience in contract reviews, estimating and production lead times.

Qualifications

• Senior production/manufacturing leadership experience in heavy engineering, structural steel or fabrication.
• Strong planning, commercial awareness and experience of contract reviews, estimating and production lead times.
• Data-driven with the ability to challenge established practices and drive change.
• Advantageous: fabrication or welding background, ISO 3834, multi-site working.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day production operations with responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, cost and people performance.
• Own the production plan, capacity and resource requirements to achieve on-time delivery in full.
• Introduce tiered operational meetings, visual management and production KPIs from first principles.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives across layout, flow, standard work, productivity, quality and waste reduction.
• Provide operational input into contract reviews, estimating and production lead times.
