Job summary

Thales is recruiting for a Product Safety Engineer to join a central safety team in the UK, with hybrid work options in Bristol, Crawley or Reading. You will support high-value programmes for the UK MOD and allied naval projects, developing safety plans and safety cases with guidance from senior Safety Managers.

Qualifications

• Experience of Systems Safety, Product Safety or Safety Engineering activities in defence preferred
• Experience of preparing Safety Cases and familiar with ALARP principles and arguments
• Demonstrable experience of undertaking Systems Safety activities including FTA/ETA/FMEA/FMECA/IHA/SHLs
• Ability to work collaboratively in an engineering development environment to ensure compliance across the lifecycle

Responsibilities

• Develops safety plans and ensures their implementation at project level
• Applies Systems Safety Engineering to complex systems and mentors junior engineers
• Undertakes systems safety activities and assessments
• Ensures safety cases are robustly supported by evidence and analysis
• Works in multidisciplinary teams to identify and manage hazards and risks
• Participates in various lifecycle stages of systems engineering
