Trade Me is one of New Zealand's most popular websites with over four million members and more than 650,000 Kiwis visiting our site every day.

We're looking for two Senior Product Owners; one for Trade Me Property based in either Auckland or Wellington and one for Trade Me Jobs based in Christchurch, Auckland or Wellington.

These are critical leadership roles and key customer and product advocates in Product Engineering teams. By taking strong ownership of the outcome, you'll ensure teams are working on the right thing, leading key trade-off decisions based on value and impact and are accountable for delivering the outcomes and shifting the metrics we care about most. To achieve this, you will work closely with teams to prioritise and refine the roadmap and backlog, identify and manage dependencies and maintain the user experience of your product portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Strike the balance between value, viability, feasibility and usability and be accountable for the short-term roadmap and committed outcomes of the product’s delivery.
• Work with product management and technical leadership teams to identify the most valuable pieces of work, prioritise them and slice them to optimise for the first customer feedback loop.
• Lead the effort to define quarterly story-maps and OKRs to build alignment between high-level strategy and day-to-day engineering teams.
• Create, refine and maintain a robust, adequately-resourced backlog.
• Lead release change management, including customer adoption/rollout planning and both internal and external engagement and communication around the change.
• Build a strong understanding of our customers’ experience using our services day to day, and bring the voice of the customer to prioritisation decisions.
• Work with Engineering managers and technical leaders to strike the right balance between product delivery and platform maintenance.

What you will bring to our team:

• 5+ years experience leading Product Engineering teams to deliver great outcomes, good understanding of product, design & engineering practices.
• Experienced working in an Agile development environment.
• A proven track record of successfully developing flexible value-driven product roadmaps to clarify where we are going, taking ownership of outcomes, defining opportunities and delivering measurable results.
• Experienced in using outcome-based metrics to measure the impact of change.
• Results-oriented with demonstrated ability to deliver great outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage complexity, deal with a high level of uncertainty, and make decisions with information at hand.
• A great team player and collaborator, able to form strong relationships and get the best out of people.
• An outstanding communicator - able to explain ideas simply & clearly, listen carefully to others, and proactively improve team communication.
• Highly organised, with great planning and facilitation skills.
• Energy, drive and enthusiasm for excellent results and a genuine desire to help engage and motivate other team/squad members.
• Exceptional proficiency in risk management and robust decision-making based on risk assessment.
• Advanced analytical, technical and creative reasoning and an extensive toolkit of problem solving techniques.
• Mentors and guides others in product ownership tools and practices.
