Role overview:

We are seeking a Product Owner to own and evolve Planet’s Checkout and Pay by Link experiences – the key front doors to our eCommerce payment stack. This role is central to how merchants – especially in hospitality and travel – present payment options, capture tokens, and complete transactions via direct, hosted, or link-based journeys.

You will shape the product backlog for hosted pages, SDKs, and deep integrations with booking systems, focusing on performance, UX, token management, and flexibility across APMs and schemes.

What you will do:

Own the Checkout & Pay by Link Experience

  • Manage the backlog for hosted checkout pages, drop-in SDKs, and redirect/payment link flows.
  • Own the full lifecycle of Pay by Link – creation, expiry, re-use, token capture, branding, and reporting.
  • Partner with integration teams to support Oracle, Protel, and other PMS-linked flows, ensuring booking-to-payment links are robust and traceable.
  • Define acceptance criteria for multi-lingual, multi-currency, responsive checkout flows with tokenization and SCA-compliant authentication.

Support Payment Method Orchestration

  • Ensure checkout experiences support all relevant payment types: cards, APMs, network tokens, and 3DS2.
  • Collaborate with APM and gateway teams to integrate new payment methods with minimal merchant friction.
  • Manage how payment methods are displayed, selected, and prioritized across checkout and Pay by Link interfaces.

Backlog Management & Delivery

  • Translate merchant use cases, technical capabilities, and regulatory needs into user stories and epics.
  • Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and delivery ceremonies with engineering and QA teams.
  • Track feature adoption and merchant feedback to inform backlog priorities and refinements.

Drive Conversion & Merchant Enablement

  • Partner with UX, commercial, and data teams to improve conversion rates, reduce drop-off, and support Pay by Link tracking.
  • Ensure merchants can self-serve or automate key flows (e.g., pre-fill, re-send link, reuse tokens, customize branding).
  • Work with portal and onboarding teams to ensure link and checkout tools are discoverable and configurable.

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally in payments or hospitality eCommerce.
  • Strong knowledge of hosted checkout experiences, tokenization, 3DS2, and multi-payment method orchestration.
  • Experience designing or owning Pay by Link or similar link-based invoice/checkout products.
  • Familiarity with hospitality booking engine flows (Oracle, Protel, etc.) and token capture at booking or check-in.
  • Comfortable working with APIs, SDKs, redirects, and hosted flows, collaborating closely with developers.
  • Skilled in backlog ownership, Agile rituals, and delivery-focused product thinking.
  • Experience in hospitality or retail checkout UX and Pay by Link adoption.
  • Knowledge of token lifecycle management, network tokenization, and repeat payments.
  • Understanding of SCA exemptions, delayed authentication, and payment timing (pre-auth vs post-stay).
  • Experience with merchant configuration tools or branded checkout theming.
