About the Position

Energy Exemplar is looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead our transmission planning products as part of our next generation PLEXOS Energy Analytics platform.

The functions of the role cover the following responsibilities:

  • Build and execute on the vision for Energy Exemplar’s PLEXOS platform focused on nodal analysis/transmission planning, with use cases including but not limited to:
  • Transmission system adequacy
  • Generation siting and integration
  • FTR/Congestion Analysis
  • Own the vision and success for our Transmission planning solutions across the Energy Exemplar Product Portfolio.
  • Build and execute on a strategy aligned to our company goals with a roadmap that communicates key priorities and milestones.
  • Be responsible for discovering new customer requirements, validating their needs, and integrating these into a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap.
  • Write detailed requirements including the problem we are solving, a user story, and detailed acceptance criteria. Work with cross functional teams to ensure requirements are well understood including UX, engineering, technical writers, and more.
  • Collaborate with customers, sales, solution engineering, and internal stakeholders to ensure our products meet current customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to develop and implement effective go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and launch plans. Be the champion of your solution.
  • Engage with sales and prospects to help close opportunities and position the offering effectively.
  • Ensure successful product adoption by monitoring product performance against key metrics. Adjust tactics/strategy when necessary.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Fluent in PSS/E, PowerWorld or similar loadflow applications, including both DC loadflow solutions and AC loadflows .
  • Knowledge of DC and AC loadflow solutions and the advantages/disadvantages in their application
  • Deep understanding of power system economics covering both operational economics and capital investment
  • Understanding of Security Constrained Unit Commitment/Economic Dispatch (SCUC/SCED) and production costs, and the factors impacting each.
  • Understanding of the formation of Locational Market Prices (LMPs) and the factors driving them.
  • Experience using power flow analyses to develop long term transmission plans in accordance with applicable reliability standards.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining power flow models, including contingency files, demand updates, new facilities.
  • Experience using production cost models to simulate system/asset economics under various scenarios.
  • Experience supporting generation interconnection/retirement analyses.
  • Ability to translate market insights into requirements.
  • Strong skills for building requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Outstanding analytical abilities to use data to make recommendations.
  • Proven customer service skills with ability not just to meet but exceed customer expectations.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and work with remote teams.
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams to obtain buy in, and to see the initiatives to fruition . Must be a natural leader, go-to person, able to win the respect and trust of their peer group.
  • Experience with high levels of multi-tasking and prioritizing in a consistently fast-paced, deadline- driven environment.
  • Experience in transmission planning.
  • Product management or business analyst experience preferred.
