Senior Product Manager, Core Platform (f/m/d)

About the opportunity

Contentful’s content platform is the core of our product ecosystem—powering everything from the editing interface our customers love, to the APIs developers integrate with, to the internal frameworks our own teams build on. As Technical Platform Product Manager, Content Platform, you’ll own the roadmap for the foundational services (content modeling, delivery/runtime APIs, extensibility layers, SDKs) that make all of that possible. You’ll translate long-term platform vision into clear, incremental value for customers and for the product teams who build on top of it. As Contentful scales into a platform-centric, AI-ready architecture, we lack a platform-as-a-product mindset that holistically addresses both internal and external developer needs. This person will act as the connective tissue between foundational services and the rest of the company to serve a DXP—serving internal platform consumers and external developers who rely on predictable, scalable APIs and structured content models.

You will treat core platform primitives—taxonomy, reference architecture, governance surfaces, storage abstraction, and cross-space modeling—not as infrastructure, but as strategic product capabilities. Your job is to turn them into coherent building blocks for extensibility, reuse, and automation across the entire Contentful ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape the platform strategy. Partner with the chief architecture office, staff engineers, design and other product manahers to define a multi-year vision for our Platform that balances composibility, consistency, extensibility, scalability, performance, developer experience.
• Define and drive the evolution of platform services - including storage models and capabilities, content API layers, and reusable abstractions. Driving reliability, scale, reuse, governance, and AI readiness across the entire ecosystem of Contentful.
• Champion domain modeling and work closely with Architecture, Engineering, and fellow PMs to build scalable internal and external developer surfaces.
• Translate complex infrastructure decisions into clear product narrativethat align with business priorities and customer outcomes.
• Define and measure success through clear KPIs tied to developer velocity, reuse, internal adoption, and AI orchestration capability.
• Represent the customer. Use research, analytics, and direct customer conversations to keep content creators, developers, and enterprise architects at the centre of every decision.

What you need to be successful

Must-Have Experience

• 5+ years of product management experience with at least 2+ years focused on core platform or developer-facing products.
  Deep familiarity with team topologies, platform as a product mindset, domain-driven design, schema evolution, and platform abstraction patterns.
• Experience building or scaling multi-tenant systems, public APIs, or internal extensibility frameworks.
• Proven ability to define and ship technical products in close partnership with engineering and architecture teams.
• Product depth, not breadth: You go deep, challenge assumptions, and untangle complex interdependencies.
• Builder mindset: You think in abstractions, reuse, and interfaces - not just features.
• Strong communicator: You can synthesize technical decisions into business rationale for execs, PMs, and engineers.
• Collaborative influencer: You drive alignment across stakeholders without relying on positional authority.
• Vision and ownership: You don’t wait for someone else to define “platform” - you architect the answer.
