Job Description:

Originally conceived in Spotify, Backstage is now a leading SaaS and open-source platform for building developer portals. Adopted by thousands of companies, Backstage helps customers to restore order to their microservices and infrastructure and enables product teams to ship high-quality code quickly — without compromising autonomy. We seek a creative, passionate, experienced senior product manager to join Spotify's Backstage product area. Our mission at Backstage is to unleash creativity and innovation for developers while creating delightful experiences. Over the past years, Backstage has enabled thousands of organizations, including Fortune 100 companies, to shift and transform their engineering culture, creating a centralized software catalog, standards, and a single pane of glass for all the developer's needs with our offerings: Open source, plugins, and SaaS products. In this position, you’ll drive our SaaS product's core experience and growth, work in an agile startup environment, and help grow and scale the product.

What You'll Do

  1. Work closely with cross-functional squads across engineering, design, data science, and user research to manage our core product experience.
  2. Analyze opportunities using data insights, user research, and collaboration with design teams.
  3. Develop a comprehensive strategy and vision for the product, aligning with overall business goals.
  4. Create and execute the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic vision and customer needs.
  5. Prioritize features and make data-driven decisions based on market research, user feedback, and performance metrics.
  6. Communicate effectively with partners, including executives, cross-functional teams, and customers, to ensure alignment and buy-in.
  7. Engage with customers to gather feedback, understand their needs, and incorporate their perspectives into product development.

Who You Are

  1. Experience building and shipping customer-facing software products with teams of designers, engineers, and data scientists.
  2. 6+ years of experience in product management roles.
  3. Experience as a product manager of SaaS B2B and developer-facing products.
  4. Deep understanding of the developer journey and jobs to be done for developers or DevOps/Infra teams.
  5. Experience making hard data-informed decisions (A/B testing, customer feedback, user testing, data analysis, market analysis, defining metrics).
  6. Excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative space and passionate about improving developers' tasks.
  7. Skilled storyteller able to communicate succinctly and inspiringly to diverse audiences.
  8. Apply systems thinking and analytical skills to develop product strategies.
