ABOUT THE ROLE AND THE TEAM

As Senior Product Manager, you will join the Baggage business. You will be accountable for owning Baggage reconciliation and tracking product, the customer problem definition, market analysis, defining the strategy and driving the execution thereof and managing the product life cycle through championing and driving business performance.

Reporting to the Portfolio Director of Baggage you will be a part of the Baggage team responsible for the end-to-end baggage management and tracking solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Product Strategy and roadmap:

Thoroughly analyze and develop a deep understanding of market trends and customer needs for delivery, support and maintenance for Baggage reconciliation and tracking.

Propose and execute the strategy for the product(s) in line with SITA's strategy

Articulate and document the product vision strategy and define the target market

Sales/Channel Strategy and Support

Establish and implement an effective channel 'go to market' strategy for the products, to include an agreed and executed sales and marketing plan

Support bid management processes and pre-sales customer interactions.

Support Sales forces with a clear product value proposition and training.

Through a thorough understanding of customer needs, the competitive landscape and market trends, regularly identify new opportunities, as well as requirements for enhancements to existing products/services

Accountable for the products' functional requirements

Lead/Sponsor of each product development project throughout the build/launch process to ensure delivery of the right product to market, within the agreed timescales. Propose process improvements where necessary.

Develop and lead a cross functional team that helps shape ongoing strategy and ensures the timely/cost effective and quality delivery of product developments and product performance

Manage partnerships and supplier relationships

Product Road map/Life Cycle Management

Develop and manage the product road map throughout the life cycle from conception to retirement

Track and make recommendations on the management of product P&L, revenue, new business and profitability including competitive pricing in the marketplace to achieve desired sales volumes/optimized profit

Make recommendations for the planning and prioritization of product investments with the context of the solution line portfolio strategy.

Define and develop the portfolio/product value proposition

Responsible for all product marketing activities during the lifetime of the product including the implementation of the product launch plan, promotional and collateral support plan and sales support/infrastructure plan to drive the successful acquisition and retention of customers

Organize, run and work with key user groups and important customer forums to develop customer relationships and influence market thinking

Propose enhancements and process documents

Product Pricing Strategy

Define a comprehensive pricing strategy for the product(s)

Ensure that key players including Sales, Bid, SGS understand the pricing strategy and apply it.

Product Performance

Responsible for achieving product financial, customer satisfaction and business objectives.

Ensure that stakeholders are fully engaged and committed to achieving these objectives.

Product Management Practice

Ensure a complete communication of the 'project plans progress tracking' to all relevant parties getting their strong commitment.

Contribute to the Product Management practice, working with Product Management peers to drive best practice across the SITA Product Management community

Act as coordinator for those working on the product development, stage gate and product projects

Act as mentor/coach to more junior members within the Product management community

Qualifications

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

  • 5 to 8 years relevant business experience in Baggage and/or Airport Operations.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Manager in a global business environment and within a technology solutions-based business.
  • At least Bachelors degree level or equivalent in a technical, business or marketing discipline. Masters degree preferred
  • Innovation Skills and a track record of significant experience in defining market requirements and functional specifications.
  • Very good understanding of the latest trends and innovations within the airline/airport industry and relevant technology areas.
  • A demonstrated track record of success in delivering lasting results.
  • Good capability of leading and influencing virtual teams focused on delivery and support within an international environment.
