Job Description:
The newly formed Solution Validation Growth (SVG) team within Consumer payments is looking for an individual with a technical bent of mind and interest in product ownership to help us continue to grow and launch new features and services. This role reports to Validation vertical within SVG.
The Senior Product Engineer requires hands-on experience which includes the following responsibilities:
- Work closely with Visa’s technology and product teams to understand new business initiatives as well as the impact on current and new client projects and build Validation platform for Sandbox and Production, be the Product Engineer for the Validation platform.
- Design, develop proof of concept to validate that the user interaction flows documented in the service blueprint developed by the UX designers, Product and the Solution Architects.
- Apply business and systems thinking to analyse and synthesize the output of a proof of concept to generate new insights that can drive changes to the service blueprint.
- Use your knowledge of a best in class and inclusive user experience, together with your knowledge of the latest developments in UX technologies to validate that the service blueprint stretches the technical “art of possible” in the direction of delivering the best possible experience.
- Demonstrate the value of prototyping as an integral and regular step in the design and validation process of conceptualizing, refining, and finalizing a solution, service, or product.
- Be able to write up detailed technical documentation, including architectural flows and sequence diagrams for the prototypes developed.
- Lead the technical aspect of conversations with clients and partners on the UX and technical flows.
- Stay abreast of the latest UX technologies and identify ways to utilize them.
- Develop a strong partnership with the product and design teams and use that relationship to drive the evaluation and validation of cutting-edge technologies that elevate the UX delivered by those teams.
- Evaluate Visa and partner integration models and supporting documentation to ensure that they deliver a best-in-class developer experience.
- Be seen as the subject matter expert in UX technologies by product, design and technology teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to build robust, reliable, and scalable payment processing platforms.
- Build and enhance positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Define product/technical requirements which involve writing clear, thorough, and detailed user stories for complex features and product sets.
- Work very closely with development and QA organization to ensure technical specifications and final product meet business requirements.
- Support the development team in building deliverables in accordance with compliance, security and quality standards for Visa required deliverables and the card payment ecosystem.
- Participate in daily scrum meetings for the teams executing on projects being driven.
This position may require off-scheduled work including late evenings / weekends in support of client and company configuration changes and associated post-production validation.
Qualifications
- 8 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or 6 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree in a related software engineering, front-end engineering occupation.
- Must be able to build front-end and back-end applications from scratch.
- Proficient in writing code and building POCs using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js or equivalent modern web technologies.
- Expert in web service standards and related patterns (REST, SOAP, gRPC, etc).
- Solid understanding of database technologies.
- Experience in software development lifecycle in an e-commerce or web environment.
- Experience in technical implementations of large-scale, highly available, robust web or mobile applications.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities, and challenges.
- Experience with Identity solutions like OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, security tokens (JWS, JWE, access token, id token) or other IAM.
- Cryptographic knowledge & Key Management experience.
- Experience in scripting for API testing tools such as Postman or similar.
- Knowledge/experience of Design Thinking.
- Experience with product management tools such as Jira Align.
- Knowledge of Project management principles and Agile development methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in developing roadmaps, writing user stories, grooming product backlogs, and prioritizing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in working in an agile environment within the Payments space.
- Strong client-facing communication and written skills.
- Analytical mindset with curiosity and strong data analysis skills.
- Ability to shift priorities and demonstrate proactive support to others.
- Understanding of how decisions impact other teams and contribute to broader success.
