Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a polymer materials engineer to support heat shrink sleeves and cable marker products across the lifecycle. You will translate Customer inputs into development initiatives and work with cross-functional teams to ensure robust manufacturing and reliable product performance.

The role requires deep knowledge of polymer systems, compounding, extrusion, irradiation and cross-linking, plus experience leading material selection, qualification and lifecycle support while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • Ongoing professional development in materials engineering, processing technologies, or quality systems.
  • Strong knowledge of heat shrink tubing materials, processes, and product performance.
  • Understanding of polymer systems, additives, fillers, and pigments.
  • Expertise in compounding, extrusion, irradiation, cross-linking, and expansion processes.
  • Significant experience in heat shrink tubing or polymer-based product engineering
  • Experience leading material selection, process assessment, qualification, validation, and lifecycle support activities
  • Experience managing material, process, and supplier changes with a strong focus on risk assessment
  • Experience working across global manufacturing sites and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience partnering with customers and suppliers on technical projects and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of engineering and quality tools including FMEA, validation planning, root cause analysis, and failure analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with business priorities and time-to-market objectives.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support and sustain the heat shrink identification sleeves and cable marker product portfolio.
  • Develop new products and material solutions aligned to customer and market needs.
  • Translate customer feedback and market opportunities into product development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate, qualify, and improve products and materials.
  • Act as a technical authority for heat shrink tubing materials and processes across multiple product families.
  • Assess technical risks associated with material, process, and supplier changes and provide recommendations.
  • Support engineering change, validation, qualification, and deviation activities.
  • Ensure product safety, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing robustness throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Apply expertise in polymer materials, compounding, extrusion, irradiation, cross-linking, and expansion processes to optimize product performance.
  • Provide technical leadership through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and influencing technical decisions
  • Support customer and supplier technical reviews, issue resolution, and value engineering activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement through technical best practices and fact-based decision making
