Its Electricity Transmission business (NGET) is responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the high-voltage electricity network in England and Wales.### The roleThe Senior Product Designer sits within the User Centred Design practice and is embedded in a cross-functional squad alongside a Product Owner, Business Analyst and Tech Lead. The role spans discovery, design and delivery, helping teams understand user needs, shape product direction and create intuitive experiences for National Grid's enterprise platforms. It is based from the Warwick office with flexible hybrid working available.### What you would do* Partner with your squad's Product Owner, Business Analyst and Tech Lead to understand desired product outcomes and how end users interact with the platform.* Map end-to-end user journeys, workflows and service interactions to surface pain points, unmet needs and opportunities for improvement.* Translate user needs, business goals and operational constraints into clear problem statements and experience opportunities.* Run discovery activities and usability evaluations to identify risks, assumptions and adoption challenges early.* Turn complex business requirements and low-fidelity concepts into intuitive, brand-compliant interfaces for enterprise workflows.* Create wireframes, high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes to communicate design ideas and user flows.* Produce final visual designs and full specifications for hand-off to engineering.* Iterate designs based on user feedback, usability testing, analytics and stakeholder input, and clearly explain the trade-offs behind your recommendations.### What they are looking for* At least 5 years of experience in user experience design, digital product design, usability testing and strategy development.* Experience designing for enterprise or B2B software with complex workflows and multiple user types.* A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end delivery work and solid UI design skills.* Proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, variants and prototyping.* Experience developing and maintaining design systems and pattern libraries.* Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research tools such as UserTesting, Optimal Workshop, HotJar or Pendo.* Experience working within Agile or Scrum methodologies alongside cross-functional teams.* Strong communication skills to convey design rationale to product and engineering stakeholders.* Comfort working autonomously, managing ambiguity and juggling multiple delivery priorities.* Comfort using AI tools within the design workflow for ideation, research synthesis or rapid prototyping.* A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience in product design, UX, interaction design, HCI or a related discipline.* Evidence of continued professional development in product design, user research, accessibility or digital delivery.* Experience in finance, insurance, telecommunications or similarly regulated industries is desirable.### Working arrangementsThe role is based from National Grid's Warwick office (CV34 6DA) with flexible hybrid working options.
