Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Senior Product Designer to join a Swindon-based team, crafting retail design concepts from briefs through to detailed manufacturing drawings and prototypes. You will work closely with clients, suppliers and project teams, and international travel is a key part of the role.

The role requires experience in product/retail design, strong Autodesk Inventor skills, and proficiency with AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Hybrid work applies, with a 3:2 office-to-remote split.

Qualifications

• Product Design qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience within product design, retail design or similar technical design environment.
• Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience using AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to produce and interpret detailed technical manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of manufacturing techniques, materials and production processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and valid passport essential due to international travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings in line with project requirements.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings suitable for contractors, suppliers and manufacturers.
• Develop practical and cost-effective product designs from initial client briefs.
• Produce complete technical drawing packages covering all relevant design requirements.
• Use Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks to develop detailed product designs.
• Manage prototypes from initial concept through to production.
• Liaise with buying and project management teams throughout the design process.
• Develop client briefs, confirm requirements and communicate design proposals effectively.
• Represent the company professionally when dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain drawing registers, issue sheets, CAD files and associated documentation.
• Ensure CAD files and design documentation are accurately maintained and organised.
• Ensure equipment and product designs comply with relevant Health & Safety requirements, CDM regulations and British Standards.
• Report regularly to the Design Studio Manager regarding workload, priorities and project progress.
• Support other designers and internal teams with design, printing and file management requirements.
