Our mission: to enable businesses to grow and reimagine themselves by becoming advocates and champions for their Customers. With deep heritage and expertise in retail – one of the world’s most competitive markets, with a deluge of multi-dimensional data – dunnhumby today enables businesses all over the world, across industries, to be Customer First.

dunnhumby employs nearly 2,500 experts in offices throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas working for transformative, iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Meijer, Procter & Gamble and Metro.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who expects more from their career. It’s a chance to extend and improve dunnhumby’s Design team. It’s an opportunity to work with a market-leading business to explore new opportunities for us and influence global retailers and brands.

Joining our growing Design team, you’ll work with world-class and passionate people to unlock the value of data for our Retail and Brand clients through our portfolio of digital solutions powered by data science.

What you’ll be working on

As a hands-on design and innovation practitioner, you will shape our products into usable and useful experiences with user needs and business goals at the forefront.

Working in an agile, global team, you will work closely with designers, engineers, data scientists, and product managers to solve problems in unique ways. Your communication and collaboration excellence will be essential to avoid siloed thinking and efforts.

You will support the Product Design Manager in defining standards and guidelines across design and research, ensuring quality and consistency in product experience.

A strategic thinker, you will apply design attention to the small details and the big outcomes, setting service KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure product design positively impacts business outcomes such as customer satisfaction, financial performance, and growth.

You will guide our engineering teams in the execution of the experience, communicating vision, designs, and explaining decisions.

Key accountabilities

  • Provide design leadership within product delivery teams working closely with product managers, UX researchers, engineers, and data scientists.
  • Lead the creation of user-centric experiences that meet a high-quality, industry-leading standard.
  • Partner with product managers to translate requirements into user flows, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes that lead to an intuitive user experience.
  • Assist Product Design Principal or Product Design Manager with managing the design work within a product space, ensuring there are clear and solid communications with other teams.
  • Validate designs with end users via common research best practices and techniques.
  • Present designs and validated findings back to team members and stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Evangelize systematization and reusability when designing your experiences. Thinking of how you can lead the componentization and contribution of design decisions back to a design system.
  • Articulate the value of design in your daily work with others outside of design.
  • Lead design talks and process improvement workshops in partnership with Product Design Principal and Manager.
  • Support development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for product.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate fresh ideas into design practices.
  • Continue to refine, learn new skills, and grow yourself as a designer.

What we expect from you

  • Experienced in user experience design, creating, designing, validating, and measuring product experience.
  • Ideally a degree in UX Design, Product Design, Human-Centred Design, Graphic Design, Communication Design, etc.
  • Ideally an understanding of coding languages and ability to communicate effectively with developers, specifically with regards to user interfaces like HTML, CSS, and comparable languages.
  • A portfolio of design work/case studies.
  • Expert skills with design software such as Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong practice of user-centred design methodologies.
  • Strong storytelling skills in communicating to stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and incorporating user feedback into the design process.
  • Expertise in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, interaction design, and other relevant design disciplines.
  • Confidence in planning and conducting ideation sessions and workshops leveraging design thinking methods.
  • Ability to articulate design decisions and strategies to both design and non-design stakeholders.
  • Understanding of business metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Experience handling iterative design throughout an agile development process.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design tools and technologies.

What you can expect from us

We won’t just meet your expectations. We’ll defy them. So you’ll enjoy the comprehensive rewards package you’d expect from a leading technology company. But also, a degree of personal flexibility you might not expect. Plus, thoughtful perks, like flexible working hours and your birthday off.

You’ll also benefit from an investment in cutting-edge technology that reflects our global ambition. But with a nimble, small-business feel that gives you the freedom to play, experiment, and learn.

And we don’t just talk about diversity and inclusion. We live it every day – with thriving networks including dh Gender Equality Network, dh Proud, dh Family, dh One, and dh Thrive as the living proof. Everyone’s invited.
