You’ll lead design efforts, from understanding and framing the user problem through design and implementation, to measuring how released products perform and identifying opportunities for improvement.

As the Senior Product Designer, you’ll need to demonstrate a deep understanding of how you approach complex design problems, working through iterations to reach effective solutions and are able to articulate the design needs, any trade-offs and break them down into prioritized requirements for implementation. You’ll need to manage the overall product experience and elevate the design standards and frameworks within the engineering teams workflows, whilst adhering to the design guidelines and standards of the bank.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilise Figma and other design tools to craft intuitive wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups that champion user-centred design principles
  • Understand and frame complex user problems, connecting user needs, business objectives and technical constraints to clear product opportunities and design decisions.
  • Use qualitive and quantitative evidence, including product analysis, usage data, user research, and support feedback to inform design concepts and strategies.
  • Confidently articulate and present design concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders through design thinking workshops and documentation to translate complex business requirements into elegant, user-friendly solutions.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to ensure our designs meet the needs of our users.
  • Maintain visibility of relevant support and feedback channels to identify recurring friction, unmet needs and emerging opportunities.
  • Define appropriate usability measures for key workflows and evaluate released functionality against intended user and business outcomes.
  • Work closely with users to understand their requirements and deliver an intuitive and frictionless user experience
  • Use AI assisted tools and agents across research, design, prototyping, and implementation where they improve speed or quality of delivery.
  • Write user-focused tickets with clarity and intent.
  • Own design quality and decisions for the product, ensuring usability experience meet standards of the enterprise and agreed outcomes.
Characteristics
  • Able to identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Pragmatic, and a creative approach to managing risk
  • An advocate of inclusion and diversity in every way
  • A growth mindset and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable using evidence to challenge assumptions and inform decisions.
  • Shows enthusiasm and develops trust through empathy
  • Passionate about creating products based on real user needs
  • Curious about emerging technology and willing to work across traditional boundaries between design and engineering.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams and remotely
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Product Designer demonstrating your ability to drive business outcomes through innovative design solutions with development teams and stakeholders
  • Strong ability to proactively identify and improve areas where necessary
  • Strong understanding of service design, with the ability to see the wider user experience landscape and how systems and user journeys integrate and interact with each other
  • Strong experience taking complex or ambiguous problems from discovery and problem definition through design, implementation and iteration.
  • Strong understanding of Figma to create clickable prototypes, creating and using components, variables and other powerful Figma features
  • Experience in conducting user research, usability testing and workshops and translating findings into product decisions.
  • Strong understanding and experience working with web-based presentational languages like CSS and semantic HTML (JavaScript is a bonus)
  • Experience using AI assisted design, prototyping or development tools or demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder management and conveying complex product and design concepts to diverse audiences from engineers to senior leadership.
