Job summary

Laborup is hiring a Senior Product Design Engineer in the Birmingham area to lead hands‑on mechanical design of heavy‑duty equipment from concept to production release.

You will own projects, develop 3D models, assemblies and detailed drawings, apply GD&T, tolerance analysis and DFm, and work closely with manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible and robust in industrial environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of mechanical design or product engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience designing mechanical equipment, machinery, or manufactured products.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and 2D drafting software; Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through production release.
• Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Convert requirements into practical, manufacturable designs.
• Design components and products for industrial applications.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and robust design principles.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
• Support engineering changes and continuous product improvements.
• Interface with customers and internal teams to understand requirements.
