Position Summary

This role joins the EMEA Legal Team, working closely with the global product compliance functions. Responsibilities include advising on regulatory developments, enabling market access, reporting compliance trends, managing product investigations and recalls, and auditing product compliance on the SHEIN Marketplace.

The ideal candidate is inquisitive, enthusiastic about e-commerce and innovation, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates sound judgment in ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

• Lead comprehensive product compliance standards within the legal team.
• Develop and drive initiatives to meet compliance objectives.
• Improve operational processes and knowledge management systems.
• Ensure compliance policies are well-developed, communicated, and effectively implemented by partners.
• Identify and address gaps in the compliance program.
• Collaborate with product safety and quality teams to minimize product risks.
• Perform other duties to ensure product compliance in the EMEA region.

Specific Examples:

Enable Market Access:

• Conduct research using third-party labs, consultants, and standards to facilitate market entry and product launches.
• Interpret and communicate regulatory standards to the business for compliance.

Report Compliance Trends:

• Monitor and communicate regulatory changes and their impact.
• Report trends and standards differences across markets to senior management.

Manage First Party Product Investigations and Recalls:

• Develop and communicate investigation and recall policies.
• Identify gaps and conduct research to determine when investigations and recalls are needed.
• Coordinate communications with government authorities and direct business partners on actions.

Manage Third Party Product Recalls:

• Ensure policies are well-developed and implemented.
• Track and manage third-party recall activities.

Audit Product Compliance on SHEIN Marketplace:

• Audit processes to minimize downstream issues and ensure effective delisting.
• Request CAPA plans where deficiencies are found.

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficiency in English; Mandarin is a plus.
• Degree in science, law, engineering, or related field, with at least 7 years of relevant experience in consumer product compliance.
• Legal qualifications and experience in product compliance are welcomed.
• Understanding of manufacturing, retail, platforms, authorities, and standards bodies involved in product safety and recalls.
• Ability to use research databases and interpret regulations quickly.
• Experience managing product recalls across countries preferred.
• Strong project management and influencing skills.
• Independent, entrepreneurial attitude with good judgment.
• Ability to lead multi-jurisdictional projects and collaborate across teams.
• Flexible to accommodate communication across time zones.
