As a Senior Exhibition Producer, you will lead a multidisciplinary project team responsible for the development, production, installation, commissioning, completion, handover and reporting, of exhibitions.

About the role

The Exhibition Production Team sits within the larger Exhibitions team at State Library Victoria, and leads end-to-end production, project management and successful delivery of the Library's forward program, annually comprising major exhibitions and other audience-focused exhibits, commissions and displays.

The Senior Exhibition Producer role coordinates the production (development and delivery) of Library exhibition projects, reporting to the Exhibition Production Manager and working closely with the wider Exhibitions team, including the curatorial and collections teams, design and technical specialists.

The Senior Exhibition Producer leads a multidisciplinary project team responsible for the development, production, installation, commissioning, completion, handover and reporting, of exhibitions, and works in consultation with projects sponsors and internal and external stakeholders. The role is also responsible for optimising delivery of exhibitions, testing and prototyping to promote continuous improvement of experiences and material and keeping project contributors informed to coordinate, deliver and maintain highest quality exhibitions and activities within project timeframes and budgets.

Measurable outcomes include :

• Overseeing and leading the end-to-end delivery of exhibitions within allocated budgets and according to detailed schedules for the installation, maintenance and deinstallation of assigned exhibitions.
• The application of best practice exhibition project management to exhibition projects encompassing activities of exhibition development and production within a risk management planning, procurement and contract framework.
• Leading a multidisciplinary project team responsible for the development, production, installation, commissioning, completion, handover and reporting, of exhibitions, in consultation with project sponsors and other relevant stakeholders to appeal and attract audiences.
• Developing and delivering high quality exhibitions in line with the programming strategy and benchmarks set by the Exhibition Production Manager and Manager, Exhibitions.
• Ensuring exhibitions and operations are in compliance with OHS and risk management policies and procedures, and in compliance with State Library of Victoria policies and procedures and with relevant legislation and regulations.
• Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to optimise the development and delivery of exhibitions, as well as enabling parallel projects to be successful through integrated planning (including marketing and programming), to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and prepare project status updates and reports on progress as needed.
• Leading relevant prototyping and testing of experiences and materials, as part of a comprehensive audience and material evaluation process.
• Undertaking any allocated role supporting the development of other major long-term exhibition or production of a major inbound / outbound exhibition project as part of a broader project team.
• Supporting a process of continuous improvement using attendance data, feedback data from users, and internal process reviews.
• Keeping abreast of developments in exhibition presentation, establish and maintain peer networks within the industry to ensure operations adhere to best and current practice.
• Preparation of reports and recommendations for future exhibitions and related programming to further continuous improvement.

You will have high-level professional knowledge of all facets of exhibition coordination, development and delivery.

Well-developed project management expertise, including in scoping, prioritising, problem-solving, proactively managing timelines, budgets, resources and procurement within legislative frameworks are essential in this role.

Key qualifications and experience include :

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant field (such as project management) or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading the development and delivery of different styles of exhibitions, multimedia projects, public art projects or other major visitor experiences, preferably in an arts and collecting organisation or visitor attraction environment.
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end project management, including scoping, problem-solving and proactively managing timelines, budgets, resources, procurement and contracting within procurement framework.
• A demonstrated track record and understanding of adherence to compliance, OHS and risk management practices in projects, preferably within a construction or exhibition build environment.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a multidisciplinary team of staff and contractors, including fostering a supporting environment conducive to delivery of successful outcomes, including providing strategic communications and leadership that fosters a collaborative and collegiate approach.
• A strong track record of successfully building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, individuals and community groups.
