Job summary

Amentum in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Procurement Buyer to lead category strategy across defence and energy programmes. You will manage end-to-end sourcing, complex contracting and supplier performance to deliver compliant, cost-effective outcomes.

You'll provide senior advice to programmes and bids, drive governance, and work with Engineering, Projects, Quality, Security and Legal to embed requirements in sourcing strategies. Hybrid working and flexible patterns discussed.

Qualifications

• MCIPS qualification is required; Chartered status preferred.
• Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive procurement leadership experience in defence, nuclear, infrastructure, energy or other highly regulated environments.
• Experience leading strategic sourcing, category management and large-value procurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-value procurement across full lifecycle: sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract drafting and award.
• Provide senior procurement and commodity-management advice shaping pricing strategies, supply chain solutions, risk assessments and mobilisation plans.
• Lead contract and framework agreement development and negotiation with Legal and Commercial teams, including terms, subcontract requirements and flow-down obligations.
• Optimise supplier bases and approved supplier lists, ensuring suppliers meet technical, quality, security and regulatory standards.
• Ensure procurement and supply chain activities comply with governance, audit and regulatory frameworks including export-control considerations.
• Maintain awareness of regulatory, geopolitical and commodity-market developments and adjust category strategies accordingly.
• Work with Engineering, Projects, Quality, Security, Commercial and Legal to embed specifications and delivery requirements within sourcing strategies.
• Provide direction and oversight to procurement support resources.
