Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting a Senior Buyer to join an established manufacturing site in Hampshire. You will manage a global supplier base, purchase raw materials and components for production, and collaborate with Engineering, Production and Finance to ensure continuity of supply.

The role offers hybrid working, exposure to continuous procurement improvement projects, and a supportive team focused on cost savings and stock health.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement or purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing suppliers and purchasing materials or components.
• Strong supplier relationship management and communication.
• Good commercial awareness and confidence supporting supplier negotiations.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to proactively manage supply issues and communicate with internal stakeholders.
• Collaborative, proactive, improvement-minded mindset.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
• ERP implementation or system improvement experience would also be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activity across a portfolio of suppliers and materials.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and lead times.
• Ensure materials and components are available to support production and customer requirements.
• Proactively identify supply constraints and work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Support commercial negotiations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Work with Operations to support inventory management and improve stock health.
• Maintain purchasing, supplier and lead-time information within the ERP/MRP system.
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, Finance and wider Procurement teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and systems.
• Challenge existing ways of working and help resolve root causes of procurement and supply issues.
