Senior Procurement Specialist

Location: Warrington

The Role

This position involves managing the procurement process for major projects across industries such as Oil & Gas and Nuclear. The successful candidate will oversee procurement from initiation to completion, leveraging their subcontracting experience to support ongoing projects.

Key Activities
  • Lead the procurement process within a cross-functional team, including Procurement, Sales, Bid, Engineering, Quality, and Legal departments.
  • Manage the entire procurement lifecycle, including pre-contract activities such as assisting proposal teams with procurement and subcontracting, managing tendering processes, and selecting pricing strategies.
  • Post-contract, develop package strategies, manage procurement plans, collaborate with engineering to ensure clear scope of work, and conduct tender assessments to select the most advantageous tenders.
  • Negotiate subcontracts, ensure compliance with flowdowns, and manage change orders and kick-off meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to Bilfinger SE compliance requirements and lead application across departments.

The role requires a minimum of 5+ years experience with NEC forms of subcontract management, with desirable experience in other contract forms such as MF1, FIDIC, and IChemE.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Proven senior procurement experience managing multiple subcontract packages in a project environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP procurement system.
  • Familiarity with various contract forms: NEC3 & 4, MF1, FIDIC, IChemE.
  • Experience with procurement of mechanical, electrical, control, instrumentation packages, and general plant and equipment.
  • Skills in change management and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a project team to deliver on time and below budget.
  • Membership of professional body such as CIPS (essential).
  • Relevant professional or postgraduate procurement/management qualification.
  • Engineering qualifications such as ONC, HNC, or HND are desirable.
