Senior Procurement Specialist – West Midlands

CLIENT

Linum Consult’s client is a leading specialist civil engineering subcontractor. Due to exceptional growth across the UK, they are urgently seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist with experience within the UK civil engineering market, to join their team in the West Midlands.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collaborate with internal teams and project staff to forecast procurement needs, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
2. Provide strategic input in tenders and estimates, identifying cost-saving opportunities and procurement risks.
3. Lead sourcing for high-value, high-risk requirements.
4. Issue RFQs as per specifications and contracts.
5. Evaluate supplier quotes considering value, framework agreements, and strategic spends.
6. Negotiate and finalize procurement agreements, ensuring value and compliance.
7. Generate accurate purchase orders in the finance system.
8. Ensure procurement complies with policies, QSE standards, ethics, and governance.

PROFILE

1. About 10 years of experience in procurement operations, supplier coordination, and contract management, ideally within the civil engineering industry.
2. Ideally hold CIPS Level 3 or NVQ equivalent.
3. Strong background working across departments to support project needs, manage purchasing processes, and maintain compliance with internal procedures and industry standards.
4. Proven experience in sourcing, cost tracking, supplier onboarding, and daily procurement activities.
5. Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
6. Legal right to live and work in the UK, with a valid UK driving license.
