Job description

Job Title: Senior Procurement Officer

Working instructions: Remote

Main Purpose of Job:

To adopt a customer focused approach to directly lead on, or support Category Specialists and Assistant Category Specialists, on end-to-end procurement, commercial and contracting strategies for goods, works and services within a nominated category of spend.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver effective procurement strategies aligned with the Council’s objectives, working closely with key stakeholders across designated service areas.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, elected members, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Lead procurement programmes and manage stakeholder engagement to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide expert advice and innovative solutions to drive efficiency, value for money, and cost savings across the Council.
  • Review, develop, and implement procurement policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure best practice.
  • Oversee procurement compliance with legislation, the Council’s Constitution, and internal policies.
  • Contribute to and lead key elements of procurement service planning and delivery.
