Job Description:
JSS is currently recruiting an IT Category Manager position for a public sector organisation in the West Midlands area.
This is a critical role, taking ownership of the key technology spend area within the business.
The role:
- Lead the procurement process for IT related, highly complex, business critical, and above threshold goods and services, within a publicly regulated environment, managing all risk, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement procurement procedures in line with the organisation’s Procurement strategy, Policy, and processes.
- Work within a governance framework and adhere to other procurement regulations as required.
- Support the development of IT procurement strategies that aim for value for money, such as supplier consolidation.
- Develop and maintain a plan of all IT procurement activities to meet business needs, advising on resource needs and options.
- Coordinate the production of invitation to tender documents, instructions, evaluation scorecards, and reports.
- Partner with key stakeholders across the business to understand their requirements and customer profiles to match products accordingly.
- Facilitate the development of the organisation’s relationships with existing and potential IT suppliers through strategic supplier relationship management.
- Work closely with legal and procurement teams to ensure adherence to contracted terms and conditions, maintaining high levels of commerciality and relationships with key suppliers.
- Proactively engage key suppliers to improve their performance, address non-conformances, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for cost savings, business improvements, and value-added initiatives.
- Ensure IT suppliers deliver optimal value by benchmarking against approved comparators and negotiating contract changes.
Your profile:
- Experience in IT Category Management and Strategy Development.
- Proven experience in leading tenders and complex IT procurement competitions.
- Strong skills in commercial negotiations.
- Experience in contract management.
- Project management skills.
- Knowledge of tenders under UCR or PCR, and awareness of recent legal interpretations in Europe and the UK.
