Job description

Job title: Senior Procurement Engineer

Location: Warton/Samlesbury - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: £47,683+ (Depending on skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead / support strategic procurement across allocated equipment and suppliers
  • Deliver value-for-money solutions aligned to customer and programme needs; contribute to programme reviews
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and resolve commercial queries
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage associated risks, including the management of key equipment and development programmes
  • Track budgets and purchase orders; identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Build strong supplier relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Engineering) to ensure on-time programme delivery
  • Ensure compliance with procurement processes, life cycle management, and obsolescence strategies

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of supplier risk management and building supply chain resilience
  • Experience in complex programme environments, with the ability to analyse data, propose value-driven solutions, and present clear recommendations
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable:

  • Experience in obsolescence, redesign, or development project procurement
  • Contract negotiation skills and familiarity with procurement terms and language
  • Awareness of defence or aerospace sector governance
  • MCIPS qualified (or working towards) or equivalent
