About the role

We are now recruiting a Senior Procurement Category Manager (Operations/Repairs) to manage the delivery of high-quality, value-for-money services through a modern, resilient, customer-focused procurement service.

Onward has started a journey of developing best practices for contract and supplier management. The successful candidate will support and embed this work while learning and developing their skills with support from peers and senior management. You will have access to performance and risk management software and reporting, with opportunities to lead development initiatives across Onward and help deliver more for our customers. We have also introduced a Social Value networking platform to connect businesses with local community groups to deliver outcomes through procurement, especially ahead of the new Procurement Act 2023.

The role focuses on the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, working with technical stakeholders from proposal development to contract negotiation, bid evaluation, performance evaluation, and contract management.

This is a home-based role, but the successful candidate will need to attend office and client meetings throughout Northwest England as required.

We are ideally seeking a Senior Procurement Category Manager with a strong track record in category management within Operations or the social housing sector, focusing on Repairs, including Grounds Maintenance, Waste Management, Energy, Security, Fleet, and Specialist contractors such as Scaffolding, Damp, Drainage, and Pest Control. The role involves developing and embedding programme management, performance, and risk management reporting, and deputising for the Head of Procurement as appropriate.

Please note that if you are not a passport holder of the country for the vacancy, you might need a work permit. Check our Blog for more information.
