Portsmouth Water - Senior Process Scientist

Portsmouth Water is seeking a Senior Process Scientist to join our Compliance Department. This role involves monitoring water quality, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with Operations and Water Quality Departments to optimize treatment processes, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitor and improve water treatment operations to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Collaborate with field staff to optimize treatment processes and ensure compliance.
3. Support and guide Process Scientists and conduct process audits across facilities.
4. Investigate water quality issues, analyze root causes, and produce reports with improvement recommendations.
5. Assist in implementing operational methods, process optimization, and assessing investment needs.
6. Generate reports to support decision-making and collaborate with stakeholders on technical issues.
7. Maintain critical documentation such as Site Parameter Sheets.
8. Conduct water quality risk assessments and provide operational advice during quality events.
9. Participate in site trials and pilot studies.

Qualifications and Skills

• Understanding of UK water supply regulations and principles.
• Experience in data analysis and scientific investigation.
• Advanced IT skills, especially in Excel, with high mathematical proficiency.
• Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently or in teams.
• Strong management skills and a relevant degree or professional experience in science or engineering.
• Previous water industry experience and knowledge of water treatment processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Full driving license and National Water Hygiene certification.
