Job summary

A&B Smart Materials is recruiting our first process engineer to translate a lab-scale SAP formulation into reliable, affordable pilot and production-scale processes. You will work hands-on with the CEO and CTO, running batches, modeling economics, sourcing inputs, and coordinating with toll manufacturers as we scale.

This on-site role requires practical experience in chemical engineering, process safety, and cross-functional collaboration to drive manufacturability and cost-efficiency at scale.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials chemistry or closely related field.
• Experience taking chemical processes from lab to pilot/industrial scale is essential.
• Strong understanding of cost modelling and techno-economic analyses is valued.

Responsibilities

• Own techno-economic analysis and cost models from lab to pilot to production.
• Manage raw material sourcing decisions and supplier relationships.
• Run and scale pilot processes, improve yield and reproducibility.
• Lead scale-up assessment and propose alternatives to the science team.
• Develop specifications and quality systems for industrial customers.
• Ensure process safety and compliance in pilot and production environments.
• Coordinate technology transfer to third parties and toll manufacturers.
• Support commercial discussions with data on manufacturability and costs.
• Hands-on lab work and bench-scale experiments to troubleshoot batches.
• Build and lead the process engineering function as the company grows.
