Job Description:

The role

will be primarily focused on all aspects of the biomethane supply chain but will also include contributing to business development activities and assisting other specialists on waste, wastewater, recycling and circular economy projects both in the UK and overseas.

You will work with others in the process engineering team and other disciplines across the business including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water and Environmental Specialist Services Groups on a wide variety of different projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing waste, recycling, and circular economy projects across the project lifecycle, including preparing concept designs and conducting feasibility studies;
  2. Reviewing third-party designs, technical proposals, operational models, and writing technical due diligence reports for funders;
  3. Preparing technical and procurement documentation, schematics/drawings, and managing contracts during plant construction projects;
  4. Developing models to determine plant energy and mass balances, emission rates, and financial/operational metrics, including thermodynamic calculations;
  5. Conducting on-site inspections, witnessing, verification, supervision of construction, commissioning, testing projects, and troubleshooting operational plants, including waste and recycling operations and other renewable energy projects;
  6. Building relationships with clients, attending conferences, developing prospects, writing proposals, and securing new projects;
  7. Supporting other teams within SLR with technical and process engineering expertise.

About you

You will have an engineering degree and experience managing projects in waste, recycling, or related fields. You should be a team player with excellent communication skills, confident, friendly, and knowledgeable about biomethane. Experience with construction projects and facilities as an engineer, consultant, project manager, or operator is desirable.

Essential qualifications and skills

  • Degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, or similar;
  • Experience in anaerobic digestion or related fields;
  • Strong numeracy, data analysis, basic modeling, and report writing skills; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team;
  • Organized, logical, friendly, and communicative;
  • Valid UK driving license with ability to travel.

Desirable qualifications

  • Masters degree in relevant field;
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards it;
  • Experience with site work, health and safety, CDM regulations;
  • Experience with due diligence, operations, contract management, procurement;
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental targets.
