Experienced Process Engineer – UK Gas Industry

Location: Stone, Staffordshire (with flexible working options)

We’re seeking an Experienced Process Engineer with a strong background in the UK gas industry to join our growing team at Bohr Limited. This role will involve designing gas pressure and flow control systems, including pressure reduction skids, gas quality skids, biomethane injection systems, Hydrogen Blending and overall system optimisation. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and specification of gas pressure and flow control skids, ensuring compliance with relevant UK and Ireland regulations and industry standards.
  • Work with the team to develop the conceptual and detailed design across a variety of projects. Mainly within the UK, but also across the EU, Australia and USA.
  • Act as a lead process engineer within a world leading team of specialist engineers, supporting junior engineers across all aspects of the project lifecycle.
  • Develop P&IDs, process datasheets, and technical documentation for client approval and internal use.
  • Design systems to accommodate a range of equipment, including pressure regulators, control valves, check valves, and filters.
  • Specify instrumentation and ensure integration with EC&I systems for effective monitoring and control.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes for pipeline and skid design such as TD/13, IGEM standards.
  • Conduct overall system design including pressure drop calculations, control optimisation and ensure optimal system performance through appropriate component selection.
  • Conduct HAZOP reviews and risk assessments to ensure safety and regulatory compliance - both internal and external.
  • Work closely with suppliers to source equipment, maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and site works as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and best practices within the company.

What We’re Looking For

Degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience).

  • Extensive experience in the UK gas industry working as a process engineer.
  • Familiarity with skid-based systems, pipeline design, and flow assurance principles.
  • Understanding of gas quality standards and composition monitoring.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as TD/13, IGEM codes, and ATEX requirements.
  • Strong experience with HAZOPs, risk assessments, and functional safety requirements.
  • Competency with process design software (e.g., HYSYS, PIPEPHASE, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
