Qualifications

Job Description for Senior Process Engineer:

As part of our multi-discipline Engineering team, you'll work on projects across multiple sites, with the opportunity to drive them through from start to finish and see their real-world impact. We are looking for a versatile and experienced Senior Process Engineer who can take projects from initial specification through to delivery of an operational asset, managing all relevant Process Engineering design elements throughout.

We are seeking a self-motivated team player who wants to progress their career, and who is keen to work and grow as part of an integrated team. There may be travel between UKNNL sites and customer locations as required by projects. The role location is flexible and can be based at Preston or Risley.

Main Responsibilities
  • Taking the lead in developing Process Engineering designs to national and international standards as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
  • Authoring and checking calculations, engineering drawings, technical reports and design memos to support / underpin the design.
  • Work alongside project/program managers to ensure that work is delivered to meet time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
  • Work alongside the procurement team to define procurement requirements for engineering projects and collaborate with suppliers to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Supporting the commissioning of your designs.
  • Supporting active plant areas with troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Designing safe plants in line with relevant safety standards, such as BS EN 61508, BS EN 60079 and BS EN 4126.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and guiding their design activities.
  • Working with the Process Engineering Discipline Lead to identify and develop business improvements.
  • Engaging in the employee development program to support technical and behavioral growth.
Essential Criteria
  • Chartered Engineer.
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related subject and relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing process plant design deliverables in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience of the HAZOP process.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, quality and environmental requirements relating to engineering design projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey difficult concepts clearly to customers, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Evidence of problem solving and seeking solutions.
  • Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (including identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years of UK residency).

  • Experience in the nuclear sector.
