Job summary

Ministry of Justice seeks a Senior Operational Support Manager to lead a National Probation Service Local Delivery Unit, reporting to the Head of Operational Function. You will balance external liaison with internal governance and drive performance across the cluster.

You will oversee training, recruitment, audits, and action plans, and represent the NPS in strategic partnerships while supporting safeguarding duties and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• Significant middle management experience with staff management.
• Experience monitoring performance against targets and driving improvements.
• Budgetary control and procurement experience.
• Experience managing relationships with local agencies and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Local Delivery Unit (LDU) and support the Head of LDU Cluster.
• Represent the NPS in local partnerships and oversee MAPPA meetings.
• Lead on cluster training needs analysis and staff development.
• Oversee recruitment, induction, and performance/quality initiatives.
• Support audits, reviews, and action plan delivery (e.g., Serious Case Reviews).
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and premises management.
