Job summary

Ministry of Justice in the North West is recruiting a Senior Probation Officer (SPO) for Lancashire OPD on a 0.6 FTE basis. The role combines operational leadership with clinical partnership work to support individuals with personality disorders.

The post involves managing senior staff, coordinating MAPPA and multi-agency activity, and developing pathways with NHS partners and third sector organisations across Lancashire.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience of managing complex, high-risk individuals.
• Knowledge of personality disorder, trauma-informed practice and risk management.
• Experience of leading staff and providing professional supervision.
• Strong safeguarding, MAPPA and public protection knowledge.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to Probation Officers within OPD services.
• Ensure workloads are allocated and high-risk cases are overseen.
• Work with Clinical Leads and NHS partners on the OPD pathway.
• Promote psychologically informed approaches across probation.
• Lead multi-agency partnership work and MARAC involvement.
• Coordinate learning and workforce development activities.
