Job summary

Experis - ManpowerGroup in Sheffield invites a Private Cloud Principal Engineer to lead hands-on engineering across the private cloud platform, shaping virtualization, containers, Kubernetes and microservices initiatives.

You will drive architectural standards, partner with CTO teams, and guide deployment patterns with automation, security-by-design and strong governance to deliver scalable, resilient services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in private cloud / platform engineering (enterprise level).
• Strong background in Kubernetes, container platforms and cluster operations.
• Experience with Kafka or event streaming platforms and governance.
• Automation mindset with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
• Solid understanding of security controls, change management and production readiness.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the private cloud platform.
• Define and promote standards, architectures, patterns, and guardrails.
• Own Kubernetes platform design: multi-tenancy, ingress, upgrades, observability, security.
• Lead end-to-end design and evolution of compute, storage, networking and platform services.
• Drive consistency across dev/test/prod environments and improve reliability and performance.
• Coach teams on microservices design, API contracts, and event-driven patterns.
• Improve developer experience with self-service templates and golden paths.
