Job summary

CGI is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer in the UK to support a secure Local Azure-based environment for defence capabilities. You will collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams to maintain reliability and drive cloud transformation in a live production setting.

You will contribute to scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure and help optimize deployments, monitoring, automation, and operational support in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI.
• Structured ITIL-aligned environment experience.
• Defence or regulated sector experience desirable.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Candidate Profile

In this role, you will support and enhance a secure Local Azure-based cloud environment underpinning a critical capability for UK Defence. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to maintain platform reliability, improve operational efficiency, and support ongoing cloud transformation activities within a live production environment.

You will contribute to the delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure while helping drive continuous improvement across deployment, monitoring, automation, and operational support processes. Key Responsibilities

• Support & Maintain secure Azure cloud infrastructure within a live operational environment
• Develop & Deliver infrastructure improvements, automation, and cloud optimisation activities
• Monitor & Resolve platform incidents, performance issues, and service requests
• Collaborate & Innovate with cross‑functional technical and security teams
• Optimise & Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and scripting tools
• Ensure & Enhance platform security, resilience, and compliance standards
• Contribute & Improve documentation, operational procedures, and technical best practices

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

• Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI
• Solid understanding of on‑prem infrastructure (servers, storage, networking)
• Experience supporting production systems and resolving complex incidents
• Comfortable working in structured, ITIL‑aligned environments
• Defence or regulated sector experience (desirable)
