Job summary

Clayton Legal’s Private Wealth team seeks an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join the Reading office, working with a leading practice that serves London and Reading clients.

You will handle sophisticated tax, trusts and estate planning for HNW and international clients, supervise junior lawyers, and play an active role in client development and team growth in a collaborative, flexible environment with hybrid working (2-3 days in Reading).

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years PQE in Private Client law.
• Strong technical grounding in tax, trusts and estate planning.
• Experience advising high-net-worth and international clients.
• Confident handling of complex, multi-layered matters independently.
• Strong drafting and client-care skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise junior lawyers and support team growth.
• Manage high-value private wealth matters for HNW and international clients.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business development.

Job description

A top and leading Private Wealth team is looking for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join its growing practice across London and Reading.

This is a senior role offering high-quality, technically complex work alongside a supportive and ambitious team, with real scope to shape client relationships and contribute to business growth.

The Role

You'll advise High-Net-Worth individuals, business owners and international clients on sophisticated estate and tax planning matters, including trusts, succession planning and cross-border structures.

Core work includes:

• Complex wills, trusts and estate planning
• Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax advice
• Cross-border and multi-jurisdictional estates
• Business succession and family wealth structuring
• Trust creation, administration and restructuring
• Advising on Business Property Relief and business asset planning
• Probate and high-value estate administration

You'll also supervise junior lawyers and play an active role in client development and team growth.

About You

• 5+ years' PQE in Private Client law
• Strong technical grounding in tax, trusts and estate planning
• Experience advising HNW and international clients
• Confident handling complex, multi-layered matters independently
• Strong drafting, client care and communication skills
• Commercial, proactive and collaborative approach
